Handmade Glass Production

Sustained glass production is known as far back as 1600 BC. Most glass today is machine made, with only the finest glass being made by hand. All the glass produced by the Cambridge glass company was done by hand, employing the finest craftmanship techniques. It was both expensive and labor intensive. This eventually led to the closing of Cambridge and other glass companies in the 1950s and beyond, as automation, cheaper imports and changing consumer tastes all came into play.
