Cambridge Glass Company Employees
The Cambridge Glass Company employed thousands throughout its 50+ years of operation. The company provided first time, temporary, and lifetime jobs to area residents. Skilled glass artisans were attracted to Cambridge from Europe and other American glass factories.
This database identifies and builds a record of the employees and their contributions. Information has been gathered from company files, official documents, newspapers, city directories, etc. The database continues to evolve and will likely always be a work in progress. The employee listing is sorted alphabetically for easy browsing. Every attempt has been made to verify spellings and dates but conflicting information was often provided on documents. First names that appear as an initial were likely taken from factory records and are yet to be identified. Women known to have been married are listed under their maiden names as well as all married names – all cross referenced to a listing under the final married name. This was done to ensure a logical method of accounting for all surnames and is not intended to disrespect those women who may have chosen not to keep their married name. It also does not necessarily mean that the women worked for Cambridge under each of their listed names.
